Lewis Hamilton: F1 2026 rule modification 'most significant in my career' 1

Lewis Hamilton has stated that the regulatory changes for the 2026 Formula 1 season are the most significant he has encountered in his 18-year career.

The regulations have been overhauled for the upcoming season, featuring extensive modifications to both the cars and engines, with the aim of fostering more thrilling and competitive racing.

Ferrari was the most recent team to unveil its new car on Friday, just before the commencement of preseason testing — conducted behind closed doors in Barcelona — on Friday, and Hamilton discussed the regulations and his involvement with the Italian team.

“The 2026 season poses a substantial challenge for everyone, likely the most considerable regulatory shift I have faced in my career,” Hamilton remarked.

“When a new era commences, everything centers around development, team growth, and progressing in a unified direction.

“As a driver, being engaged from the very beginning in the development of such a distinct car has been an especially intriguing challenge, collaborating closely with the engineers to establish a clear direction for it. This year will be critically important from a technical standpoint, with the driver playing a key role in energy management, grasping the new systems, and aiding in the car’s development.

“It is a challenge we confront collectively as a team, bolstered by the remarkable enthusiasm of Ferrari’s tifosi, which holds great significance for all of us.”

Hamilton concluded a disappointing sixth in the championship last year, while Ferrari secured only fourth place in the constructors’ standings.
