The all-female F1 Academy has incorporated additional races into their current schedule in Montreal and Austin to compensate for the cancellation of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in April.

The cancellation of races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia by F1 has impacted the F1 Academy timetable, as it was set to include two races at the latter as a supporting event.

The schedules for F1 Academy in Montreal and Austin will now consist of three races instead of the usual two to make up for the lost events.

The additional race means that spectators with tickets for Saturday at either venue will witness two F1 Academy races.

Saturday will showcase the new “original race” along with a reverse grid race, while the feature race will occur on Sunday as per the regular schedule.

The starting grid for the “original race” will be established based on drivers’ second fastest qualifying laps, with full points being awarded.

F1 Academy announced on Wednesday that an amendment to the sporting regulations will permit the addition of a third race at another event in the future “either to ensure consistency in race count throughout a season or to utilize extra available track time at an event.”

Austrian driver Emma Felbermayr, representing the Audi-supported team, is currently leading the championship after the first round, which was held in China.
