DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — NASCAR has adjusted the start time for Sunday’s Daytona 500, moving it up by one hour due to the possibility of adverse weather conditions.

The green flag is now set to wave at 2:13 p.m. Eastern at Daytona International Speedway.

William Byron aims to become the first driver ever to secure victory in the Daytona 500 for three consecutive years as the 68th edition of “The Great American Race” marks the beginning of the NASCAR season.

Byron triumphed in last year’s race during overtime after race leader Denny Hamlin was spun out on the final lap, leading to a multi-car collision. Byron managed to overtake eight cars on the last lap to clinch the win.

Kyle Busch achieved his first Daytona 500 pole position, securing the No. 1 starting spot during qualifying on Wednesday. This comes as he prepares for his 21st Daytona 500 and seeks to break the longest active losing streak in the garage.
