Chinese Grand Prix: Max Verstappen exits race following Red Bull power failure 1

Max Verstappen withdrew from the Chinese Grand Prix after his Red Bull experienced a power failure with ten laps to go.

Verstappen was in sixth position when his vehicle seemed to lose power exiting Turn 6, and the display on his steering wheel briefly went dark.

The precise reason for the malfunction was not immediately clear, but it resulted in the four-time world champion returning to the pits where he retired the car.

The four-time world champion faced a challenging beginning to the race, having fallen from eighth to 12th on the first lap due to a sluggish start.

He managed to climb back to sixth, trailing the Haas of Oliver Bearman in fifth, before the issue interrupted his advancement.

The Red Bull driver has openly expressed his dissatisfaction with F1’s new regulations for 2026, and prior to this weekend’s race in Shanghai, he stated that his Red Bull was “not how it should be” and that “every lap is like survival.”
