Alpine has disclosed that former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is part of a group interested in investing in the Formula One team.

Horner was dismissed from his role as team principal after the British Grand Prix in July, with his official departure finalized in September, allowing the 52-year-old to re-enter the sport.

Alpine stated that it is “no secret” that Otro Capital has engaged in initial discussions regarding the sale of its stake in the team, which ended up at the bottom of the constructors’ championship standings last season.

Alpine mentioned in a statement: “With the ongoing rapid expansion of Formula One, the valuation of the teams has been rising and, understandably, has attracted multiple interested parties looking to join the sport.

“The team is frequently approached and contacted by potential investors, especially since Otro Capital has announced that exploratory discussions have occurred.

“One of the interested parties is a consortium of investors that includes Christian Horner.”

“Any inquiries or discussions are directed towards the current shareholders, Otro Capital (24 percent) and Renault Group (76 percent), rather than directly with (boss) Flavio Briatore or the team.”

During his 20-year tenure with Red Bull, Horner oversaw a remarkable era of success, securing eight drivers’ and six constructors’ championships.

The choice to relieve him of his operational responsibilities in July followed 17 months after he faced accusations of “inappropriate behaviour” from a female colleague.

At the 2024 season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix, Horner was found not at fault after an internal inquiry, only for numerous WhatsApp messages—reportedly exchanged between Horner and the complainant—to be leaked to the F1 community afterward.

Horner, who is married to former Spice Girls member Geri Halliwell, managed to maintain the support of the Red Bull leadership and continued to advocate for himself. He consistently denied the allegations and was cleared of controlling behaviour by an independent KC in August 2024.
