“I thought we struggled in our own zone, but I really like how we’re competing,” said David Hoff (Bottineau, N.D.), head coach of the U.S. National Sled Team. “We battled hard, Jen Lee made a couple big saves when we needed him to, and we found a way to win in the end.”

Pauls opened the scoring 7:49 into the contest when he capitalized on a wrister from the left circle off a feed from Farmer. Josh Misiewicz (La Grange, Ill.) also recorded a helper on the play.

Wallace doubled the U.S. advantage with just one second remaining in the second period when he fired a far-side wrist shot into the top-right corner off a feed from Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.).

Canada’s Tyler McGregor made it a one-goal game 2:08 into the third when he scored on a shot from the slot off a turnover.

At the 3:54 mark in the final frame, Farmer collected a feed from Evan Nichols (Haymarket, Va.) in the neutral zone and careened past two defenders into the offensive zone, beating Canadian netminder Adam Kingsmill with a deke before tucking the puck short side to put the U.S. up 3-1.

McGregor tallied his second goal of the contest with just over a minute remaining to make it bring Canada within one.

In the closing seconds, Jen Lee (Daly City, Calif.) made a diving save to maintain the U.S. lead and cap off the 3-2 victory. Lee stopped 15 shots to earn the win in goal for Team USA.
