GAME DAY | U.S. Faces Off Against Slovakia in Game Two of Sled Worlds Preliminary Round
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The U.S. National Sled Team will take on Slovakia here today (May 25) in its second preliminary-round contest of the 2025 World Para Ice Hockey Championship at the LECOM Harborcenter. The U.S. beat Norway, 12-0, yesterday (May 24) to move to 1-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in preliminary-round action. Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.), Evan Nichols (Haymarket, Va.) and Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) each scored multiple goals in the teams opening contest, with Roybal earning U.S. Player of the Game honors.
Team USA entered the tournament with a 13-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record on the season, including winning the 2024 IPH Cup in Ostrava, Czechia, in October, as well as the 2024 Para Hockey Cup in Charlottetown, P.E.I., in December. The U.S. also went 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) vs. Canada at the 2025 Reeve Hockey Classic in Saugus, Mass., in February, and 2-0-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in the 2025 Sled Series vs. Canada in Thorold, Ontario, in March.
All-time, the U.S. holds a 49-3-1-16 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record in world championship play, including 11 podium finishes and a record six gold medals.
