GAME DAY: Rivalry Series Resumes In Edmonton Wednesday 1

EDMONTON, Alberta – The 2025 Rivalry Series, Presented by Discover resumes on Wednesday evening as the U.S. Women’s National Team skates against Canada in game three at Rogers Place. 

Puck drop is set for 9 p.m. ET and can be viewed live on NHL Network. 

TODAY'S MATCH UP

Today's game is the third game of the 2025 Rivalry Series, presented by Discover. It marks the first meeting between the two teams since Nov. 8 when the U.S. topped Canada, 6-1, in Buffalo in game two of the series. The U.S. currently leads the series with a 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record. 

IN THE RIVALRY SERIES

Started during the 2018-19 season by USA Hockey and Hockey Canada, the Rivalry Series enters its sixth season (2018-19, 2019-20, 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25, 2025-26), with the U.S. holding a 11-4-4-10 (W-OTW-OTL-L) all time record. In the month of December, the teams hold an even 2-1-2-1 record.  

LAST TIME IN EDMONTON

In the lead up to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, Team USA and Canada faced off at Rogers Place on December 17, 2017. Hilary Knight tallied the U.S.' lone goal of the game, as Team USA fell to Canada, 2-1 in overtime. It marked the last time the U.S. Women’s National Team played in Edmonton. 

POWER PLAYING 

Through the first two games of the series, the U.S. has tallied five power play goals, including three in a 6-1 victory in game two. The U.S. has scored 10 total goals in the series thus far, with half of its offensive output coming on the extra-skater opportunities. 

MAKING TEAM USA

Today and Wednesday's games mark the final touch point before the U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team is announced. It's anticipated that the final 23-player roster will be revealed in the early days of January.
