IN THE RIVALRY SERIES…
Started during the 2018-19 season by USA Hockey and Hockey Canada, the Rivalry Series enters its sixth season (2018-19, 2019-20, 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25, 2025-25), with Canada holding a slight all-time record of 9-4-4-10 (W-OTW-OTL-L) and a record of 5-1-1-1 in series games played in November.
IN GAME ONE…
Through the history of the Rivalry Series, Team USA has won the first game of the series five times. Last season they won 7-2 in San Jose, California, in 2023-24, the U.S. won 3-1 in Tempe, Arizona. In 2022-23, the pulled out a 4-3 shootout victory in Kelowna, B.C. before a resounding 4-1 win in Hartford, Connecticut in 2019-20 and a 1-0 shutout in the first game of the 2018-19 series in London, Ontario.
HOME SWEET HOME
Goaltender Gwyneth Philips and defender Laila Edwards are the two members of the U.S. Women's National Team from Ohio. Philips is from Athens, Ohio, about 200 miles south, while Edwards, hails from Cleveland Heights, a suburb of Cleveland. Both are expected to have family in attendance.
PESCHEL'S DEBUT
Tonight's game marks defender Emma Peschel's U.S. Women's National Team debut. The Edina, Minnesota, native is currently a senior at Ohio State University and represented the U.S. at the 2022 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship in Madison, Wisconsin, as well as the 2024 Six Nations Tournament in Finland last December.
