While most elite competitors utilize the autumn months for holidays or rest, Wyndham Clark has maintained a higher level of activity, embracing a more globally dispersed PGA Tour playing calendar.

Anticipated modifications to the PGA Tour structure suggest a condensed regular season, creating additional opportunities during the traditional off-season to compete outside the United States.

After competing in the Presidents Cup, Clark participated in the Baycurrent Classic in Japan, is currently playing in the Mexico Open, and is entered in December’s Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa.

This approach blends business with leisure for Clark, who values visiting new locations and experiencing the travel alongside the competition, while also maintaining his competitive edge during what would otherwise be an extended break.

“Yeah, everyone’s asking me why I’m playing so much,” said Clark. “I kind of like it keeps you sharp, doing some club testing.

“You know, the destinations that I’m playing at are pretty amazing. Playing in Japan, playing here in Mexico and then going to South Africa. They’re all beautiful, amazing destinations. You use it as a work week, but also a little bit of a vacation.”

Clark is particularly enjoying his time in Mexico this week, a frequent vacation spot for him, and has his brother caddying for him in the tournament just before his upcoming wedding.

Clark views an increasingly international schedule as the future, envisioning the PGA Tour expanding its reach beyond America, much like the NFL and NBA have done.

Brian Rolapp played a significant role in the NFL during its period of international expansion, which included hosting games in the UK, Europe, and South America.

Clark would welcome the PGA Tour adopting a similar strategy by organizing more international tournaments or co-sanctioning events in the future.

“Yeah, I think the PGA Tour is, what 90-some percent in the US and I think it’s great that we play internationally,” Clark added. “A lot of sports are international and they’re even – you see sports like the NFL branching out, NBA branches out. I think it’s great.

“I would love if we had more events international. I like playing over in Europe, I love playing in Latin America. There’s so many good golf courses here. I know the fans enjoy golf.

“I’ve been coming to Mexico for, gosh, 15 years as a family so I really enjoy this culture, the food and have played tons of good golf courses. Hopefully we continue to come here and even expand the amount of times we come down here.”
