Wrexham pair issues caution regarding TV commentary: 'Uncertain about the outcome' 1

The celebrity owners of Wrexham are transitioning from the boardroom to the commentary booth to commemorate five years since their transformative acquisition of the Welsh club.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, previously known as Rob McElhenney, will take on commentary duties for Wrexham’s home game against fellow Welsh side Swansea in the Championship on Friday.

They will be providing commentary on British network Sky Sports and will feature various guests throughout the broadcast.

“Similar to our decision to acquire Wrexham five years ago, we truly have no idea how this will unfold,” Reynolds and Mac stated, “but we will put forth our best effort.”

“Neither of us has ever called a sporting event of any kind, much less a sport we essentially learned the rules of five years ago.”

The Hollywood duo completed their acquisition of Wrexham for $2.5 million in February 2021, at a time when the club was competing in the non-league fifth tier of English football.

Wrexham, which has become the focus of a fly-on-the-wall documentary titled “Welcome to Wrexham,” has gained global recognition and has secured three consecutive promotions, now just one step away from reaching the Premier League.

Currently, Wrexham holds the sixth position, which is the last playoff spot, with 10 matches left to play.
