Vinícius Júnior alleges racial abuse in match between Benfica and Real Madrid.

LISBON — The first leg of Real Madrid’s Champions League playoff against Benfica was halted for 10 minutes on Tuesday, as the referee activated UEFA’s anti-racism protocol following Vinícius Júnior’s initial goal.
The forward gave Madrid the lead in the 50th minute in Lisbon, but then approached referee Francois Letexier, who made the ‘arms-crossed’ signal indicating that a claim of racist abuse had been reported.
The contest at the Estadio da Luz was subsequently paused, as Vinícius — appearing visibly upset — conversed with Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa, Benfica’s José Mourinho, and his teammates.
Following his goal, Vinícius received a yellow card after celebrating with a dance near the corner flag, which led to confrontations with several Benfica players.
Benfica’s Argentine player Gianluca Prestianni was seen complaining to Vinícius while covering his mouth with his jersey, prompting the Brazilian forward to suddenly point at him and rush towards the referee.
Letexier also had a discussion with Prestianni before the match resumed.
