Donyell Malen occupies the striker role for Roma as Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad travels to Udinese, with Paulo Dybala still unavailable. Nicolò Zaniolo is preparing to face his former club while playing for the Bianconeri.

The fixture begins at 18:00 CET [17:00 GMT] at the Bluenergy Stadium, with Fabio Maresca taking charge as referee.

Roma occupy third place on 21 points and have yet to lose in Serie A. They secured a 4-2 victory over Cagliari at the Olimpico on Tuesday, featuring goals from Lulli, Niccolò Pisilli, Rodrigo Mora and Malen. Malen has scored seven league goals this season from only 12 shots on target. The Giallorossi are scheduled to play Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Udinese broke a sequence of six consecutive league losses by drawing 0-0 with Parma on Wednesday. Maduka Okoye prevented Adrián Bernabé from scoring a penalty in that encounter. Kosta Runjaic’s team currently have five points, and his job security remains in question ahead of their next match against Venezia.

Udinese vs. Roma – team news

“Roma are fighting for the Scudetto, they’re a strong side, but against the big teams you never start without hope,” Runjaic said. He added that Zaniolo and Keinan Davis would both play despite not being fully fit.

Dybala (calf) has been omitted from Roma’s squad. Mile Svilar (toe), Manu Koné (hamstring) and Lorenzo Pellegrini (hamstring) are also ruled out. Gasperini has summoned two Primavera players, Di Nunzio and Camara.

Udinese miss Oumar Solet, Bayo, David Alaba, Gueye and Alessandro Zanoli. Solet and Bayo have resumed training and hope to be available for the Venezia game. Bertola is fit to play despite being exhausted after the Parma match.

No players are suspended for either side. Jesper Karlström is one yellow card away from suspension.

Several uncertainties exist regarding the Roma defensive lineup:

Tuttosport reports that Gianluca Mancini will start alongside Evan Ndicka and Mario Hermoso. Voce Giallorossa suggests Ghilardi will replace Mancini. Meanwhile, Fantacalcio anticipates Leonardo Balerdi to take Ndicka’s place after recovering from an injury sustained against Napoli.

Wesley is expected to return to the left flank. Bryan Cristante is likely to start in midfield alongside either Pisilli or Marten de Roon, while Mora and Matías Soulé will support Malen.

Runjaic indicated for Udinese that changes from the Parma draw will be minimal. Jakub Piotrowski is competing with Chakvetadze for a midfield position, as Piotrowski is not yet ready to last 90 minutes.
