Bournemouth and United States midfielder Tyler Adams has attributed a “seamless” recovery from a knee injury to his successful return to the Premier League squad and his preparation for the upcoming international window later this month.

After suffering a torn MCL on December 15, Adams was anticipated to be sidelined for two to three months. However, he made his return to the pitch on February 12 during a 0-0 draw against West Ham United, and subsequently played the full 90 minutes in another 0-0 draw against Brentford on March 3.

“The knee’s great, I feel fine,” he shared with ESPN. “I was actually quite surprised with how smooth the rehabilitation process was because I’ve had some challenging recoveries in the past, so having a straightforward one and being able to return without issues has been pleasant.

“Getting minutes back into my legs has been beneficial, and finally feeling like I’m in rhythm again is nice as well after that last 90 [minute appearance].”

Adams is anticipated to play a crucial role for the U.S. team at this summer’s World Cup, which the U.S. will co-host with Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.

However, the Bournemouth midfielder mentioned that he hasn’t had much opportunity to concentrate on the tournament or the upcoming international window later this month, which will feature matches against Belgium and Portugal. His primary focus has been on his club, which is currently positioned ninth in the Premier League, tied on points with Fulham and Sunderland.

“It’s so challenging because people always try to gauge the excitement of what it’s like to be participating in a home World Cup. You’re so close,” he remarked.

“And I’ve always felt like it’s just been distant because when you’re in the midst of a season, you really can’t concentrate. Even during the last World Cup in 2022, it just sneaks up on you and before you know it, you’re there.

“But when you’re in the middle of a season and playing sometimes every three days, sometimes just once a week, I’m focused on trying to have the most successful season with Bournemouth. And I know that if I achieve that, I’ll be in a good position for the World Cup. So that’s all I’ve been concentrating on.”

Adams is reportedly attracting transfer interest from clubs such as Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United, but the midfielder stated he will not reevaluate his situation until after the World Cup.

“No thoughts on [the transfer interest]. I mean, I’m extremely happy here at Bournemouth,” Adams stated. “They’ve provided me with a platform to perform at my best.

“And to be honest, I don’t discuss anything with my agent. If he has something significant to present to me, I told him [to wait] until after the World Cup, but until then, I’m focused on what I’m doing.”
