TRENDING RUMORS
– Liverpool is reportedly at the forefront to acquire Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, according to TalkSPORT. However, they are facing significant competition from Manchester United and Real Madrid for the England international’s services. Wharton is contracted to Selhurst Park until June 2029, and Palace is seeking a fee of no less than Β£80 million. The potential departure of Curtis Jones from Liverpool could provide additional funds for the club, with links to a move to Italian club Internazionale.
– Arsenal is eager to secure the signing of Leicester City talent Jeremy Monga, as reported by The Telegraph. The 16-year-old has already reached an agreement for a professional contract with the Foxes, but interest from Premier League clubs may complicate the situation. The winger has made 25 appearances in the Championship this season, netting one goal and providing two assists.
– Newcastle United’s asking price for Anthony Gordon this summer is approximately Β£80 million, according to iNews. Bayern Munich has shown serious interest in the winger and is anticipated to submit a formal offer to acquire him at the end of the season. The England international has also been associated with a potential transfer to Arsenal, while Liverpool is believed to have long-term interest.
– Tottenham Hotspur has reached a preliminary agreement to sign Bournemouth center back Marcos Senesi on a free transfer, as revealed by TalkSPORT. The Argentina international is expected to transition to North London at the conclusion of the season, following the expiration of his contract. However, Spurs’ possible relegation could complicate the situation, as Senesi is unwilling to play in the Championship, with Manchester United and Atletico Madrid also monitoring his progress.
– Borussia Dortmund has internally considered a move for West Ham United defender Konstantinos Mavropanos in recent weeks, according to Sky Germany. The 28-year-old is sought after by multiple Bundesliga and Premier League teams following a series of impressive performances and is reportedly “seeking a new challenge,” prompting him to push for a departure at the end of the season, despite having a contract until 2028.
EXPERT TAKE
ESPN’s scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen evaluates Adam Wharton’s skill set.
Less than two years after his debut, Wharton has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most proficient ball distributors. He consistently requests the ball and is trusted to maintain possession under pressure. Once in control, his selection of passes is exceptional: he can execute 35-yard switches with accuracy, make incisive line-breaks through defensive pressure, or deliver well-weighted passes into a teammate’s path.
Wharton’s left foot is a notable strength, but it is also his vision and ability to “map” the play around him that are crucial, enabling him to move the ball quickly and fluidly.
Wharton has demonstrated comfort in a high-intensity style of play. Under Oliver Glasner at Palace, the England midfielder has thrived in an energetic, vertical system, where the demands for quick thinking and defensive responses are heightened. While he was impressive last season, he has increased his key-pass output by approximately 10% this year, while still maintaining accuracy and variation in his passing. Importantly, his distribution is not location-specific, making him equally reliable in initiating attacks from deep as he is in contributing in the final third.
