Roberto de Zerbi stated that Tottenham has the potential to secure victories in all five of their remaining Premier League matches to decisively evade relegation, and cautioned that any discontented players will be denied entry to the club’s training facility on Monday.

Spurs allowed a 95th-minute equalizer, resulting in a 2-2 draw with Brighton on Saturday, which left them still searching for a league win in 2026 and positioned within the relegation zone.

Pedro Porro initially gave Spurs the lead before Kaoru Mitoma equalized during first-half stoppage time. Xavi Simons regained their lead with 13 minutes remaining, scoring with a spectacular curling shot that struck the post before going in.

However, Georginio Rutter’s late goal thwarted Spurs’ chance for a first league victory in 111 days and deprived De Zerbi of a flawless debut at home as Tottenham’s head coach.

Nonetheless, the 46-year-old maintained that an enhanced performance has convinced him that Spurs can avoid relegation and even suggested they could triumph over Wolves, Aston Villa, Leeds, Chelsea, and Everton in their upcoming matches.

“I always have faith in the players’ abilities,” De Zerbi remarked. “They delivered a commendable performance. I believe we can perform better than today, with greater quality and composure, particularly when we have possession of the ball.

“At this moment, we need this spirit, this attitude, this mentality, and it is not over yet. We have five more matches to play. It is challenging.

“Each of us understands that this is a tough period, a difficult situation, but we have five games left, 15 points available, and this team is capable of winning five consecutive matches.

“It may be hard to accept my words now, but if you observe the players and assess their level, I believe we can achieve five consecutive wins. I do not wish to come across as arrogant, as I am not, especially at this time, but we possess sufficient qualities to compete and secure consecutive victories.”

Several Tottenham players appeared dejected at the final whistle, but De Zerbi emphasized: “They must heed my words. I am proud of their performance. They need to be stronger, remain focused solely on the Wolverhampton match, and arrive at the training ground on Monday afternoon with a positive attitude; otherwise, they will be sent home immediately.

“I do not have time for negativity, nor do I want to see sad players or unhappy staff. No. We are fortunate to be working at a prestigious club, in a grand stadium. We are competing in the Premier League.

“We possess the right qualities to win the game [against Wolves], so we must maintain a positive outlook. I do not appreciate individuals who lament or think negatively.”
