Roberto De Zerbi expresses desire to remain at ‘major club’ Tottenham for an extended period.

Roberto De Zerbi has made his initial public remarks as the newly appointed manager of Tottenham Hotspur, expressing his desire to remain at the “big club” for an extended period.
De Zerbi was officially announced as the new head coach of Spurs on Tuesday, signing a five-year contract, with his primary focus being to elevate the team from a relegation struggle.
On Wednesday — accompanied by a first image of the Italian in Tottenham attire — he addressed the media as the new leader for the first time.
“Greetings to all the Tottenham supporters. I am very pleased to be here with you,” he stated.
“It is an honor for me and [I am] very proud to serve as your coach. I aim to give my utmost. I wish to remain for a long time at this significant club. See you soon.”
The Spurs players currently on international duty are expected to return to training at Hotspur Way on Friday, and De Zerbi will have just over a week to collaborate with his squad before his first match in charge against Sunderland on April 12.
De Zerbi faces an immediate challenge, with only seven matches remaining and Spurs positioned 17th in the Premier League standings — merely one point above the relegation zone.
On Wednesday, he received another setback to an already injury-depleted squad as midfielder Pape Sarr was excluded from Senegal’s match against Gambia due to a shoulder issue, as reported by Senegalese media.

Sarr will add to a lengthy list of Spurs players currently receiving treatment, which includes Guglielmo Vicario, Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, and Mohammed Kudus.
