Roberto De Zerbi departs Marseille following 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Marseille’s head coach Roberto De Zerbi has departed from the club following their 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
The former Brighton manager, who guided OM to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 last season, has been associated with the Tottenham position should the north London team decide to part ways with Thomas Frank.
Marseille, currently in fourth place and 12 points behind PSG after Sunday’s defeat, and already out of this season’s Champions League, issued a statement: “After discussions among all parties involved in the club’s management — the owner, president, director of football, and coach — it was determined that a change in leadership of the first team was necessary.

“This was a challenging collective decision, made after thorough consideration in the best interests of the club, to address the sporting challenges as the season concludes.
“Olympique de Marseille expresses gratitude to Roberto De Zerbi for his dedication, commitment, professionalism, and seriousness, which were particularly evident during the team’s second-place finish in the 2024-25 season.
“The club wishes him success in his future endeavors.”
On Tuesday, Marseille president Pablo Longoria, sporting director Mehdi Benatia, and De Zerbi addressed the club’s players, where it became apparent that the relationship between the departing manager and his squad had deteriorated, sources previously informed ESPN.
