LONDON — Mexico forward Raúl Jiménez was brought to tears on Saturday after netting his first goal following the passing of his father the previous week.

After successfully converting a penalty to secure a 3-1 victory for Fulham against Burnley in the Premier League, Jiménez fell to his knees and raised both hands towards the sky.

He became emotional as he made his way back to the center circle and was observed wiping tears from his eyes post-match.

Jiménez also received a warm embrace from his Fulham teammates, including fellow forward Rodrigo Muniz and manager Marco Silva.

The announcement of his father, Raúl Jiménez Vega’s, death was made by Mexico’s soccer federation on March 13.

Jiménez has successfully converted all 14 penalties he has taken in the Premier League. He has also competed in England’s top flight with Wolverhampton.
