PSG forward Bradley Barcola sidelined for several weeks due to ankle sprain

PARIS — Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is expected to be sidelined for several weeks due to a sprained right ankle sustained during the Champions League Round of 16 match against Chelsea.
In a statement released on Wednesday, PSG confirmed that Barcola suffered significant ligament damage during Tuesday’s encounter. He was substituted in the 59th minute, and the club indicated that Barcola will be “unavailable in the coming weeks.”
Barcola netted PSG’s first goal in the 3-0 victory that advanced the defending champions into the quarterfinals with an 8-2 aggregate score.
The dynamic right winger also scored in the first leg at Parc des Princes and has tallied 12 goals this season. This injury may prevent him from participating in the quarterfinals next month, where PSG will face either six-time champions Liverpool or Galatasaray.
The Ligue 1 leaders are set to visit Nice on Saturday for their final match before the international break, while Barcola will also be absent from France’s friendly matches against Brazil and Colombia.
PSG will resume play against Toulouse on April 3, with their Champions League quarterfinal first leg scheduled for the following week.
