PARIS — The injury troubles for Paris Saint-Germain persisted as prominent winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia exited the match with a right leg injury during the Champions League clash against Newcastle on Wednesday.

Kvaratskhelia incurred the injury after a challenge from Anthony Elanga midway through the first half at Parc des Princes.

Following a brief period of medical attention, he was assisted off the pitch by right back Achraf Hakimi, who himself was injured on the same ground against Bayern Munich in November, along with a member of the medical staff.

Kvaratskhelia was unable to bear weight on his right leg, which was extended in front of him as he was escorted down the tunnel. He had scored against Sporting last Tuesday and was displaying good form down the right side prior to his injury.

Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, Nuno Mendes, goalkeeper Matvei Safonov, and several other crucial players have faced injuries this season.

Some, including Doué, Dembélé, and now Kvaratskhelia, have experienced injuries on two occasions.
