Pep Guardiola has indicated that he is inclined to continue as Manchester City manager by cautioning the rest of the Premier League that his squad will only achieve their full capabilities in the upcoming season.

Guardiola is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, although there have been speculations that he might depart at the conclusion of the current season after a decade with the club.

Despite undergoing significant changes over the past year, City remains deeply involved in the title race and is still contending for trophies in the Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.

However, Guardiola asserts they are “not a complete team” and will only be adequately prepared to secure major titles next season.

“We are not a complete team to compete to, you know, to be solid,” Guardiola stated.

“That is the reality. But we are in the process of many changes.

“If we can learn faster, and still nothing is lost, you know, we can arrive in the last month with the chances.

“But I’m quite certain next season will be better. Next season will be better. I have no doubts about that.”

Following the match at St James’ Park, Guardiola will have three days to ready his players for the Champions League last-16 first leg against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, had their weekend fixture against Celta Vigo moved to Friday night.

This adjustment provides the Spanish team an additional 24 hours to recuperate, but Guardiola mentions he has ceased expecting Premier League clubs to receive assistance with their scheduling concerning European matches.

“For here in England it is more important what happened in the Carabao Cup than the Champions League games for the English teams,” the City manager remarked.

“It has been this way since day one. So it’s no surprise.

“In the schedule, the broadcasters decide because they claim, we pay a lot of money. OK, well done, I received a lot of money. Thank you very much. You’re so kind. So it’s that.”
