Pep Guardiola has fervently defended his Manchester City squad following consecutive losses to Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt, asserting that his players are still “extraordinary.”

City struggled in their 2-0 defeat during the derby at Old Trafford, while their performance in the 3-1 loss in Norway on Tuesday led the leadership group, including Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Rúben Dias, and Erling Haaland, to organize a refund for the fans who purchased tickets.

Guardiola is preparing for the upcoming match against Wolves at the Etihad on Saturday.

In advance of the fixture, the City manager took the chance to respond to some of the criticism directed at the team during a challenging week.

“One week ago we were at Newcastle and won 2-0, and you can see how strong they are in the Champions League,” Guardiola remarked.

“I possess an extraordinary team, and we are united. I have no doubts about that.

“[Arsenal] are the best team in the world. They are currently the top team, and we hope to improve and get closer, allowing us a chance to catch up with them.”

Guardiola is expected to give Marc Guéhi his debut against Wolves.

The 25-year-old has joined from Crystal Palace and is likely to be included in the lineup with Josko Gvardiol, John Stones, and Dias all currently out due to injuries.

Antoine Semenyo is also anticipated to be recalled after being ineligible to participate against Bodo/Glimt.

“I understand how to resolve the team’s fragility,” Guardiola stated.

“It’s not solely about one player, but he [Guéhi] will assist us because he is exceptional.

“He is an England player, he won the FA Cup, and had an incredible season.

“Fragility does not stem from just one player. I know the solution to eliminate the fragility.”
