A “fully committed” Mikel Arteta stated that talks regarding his next contract have been postponed until the conclusion of the season, emphasizing that he has much more to accomplish at Arsenal.

Arteta’s three-year contract is set to expire in 2027, and it is understood that both the manager and the club are eager for him to prolong his six-and-a-half-year tenure, irrespective of the outcomes leading up to the summer.

Arsenal has the opportunity to extend their Premier League advantage over Manchester City to 12 points when they host Bournemouth in Saturday’s lunchtime match.

They are also on the verge of reaching the Champions League semifinals after a last-minute 1-0 victory in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie against Sporting Lisbon.

When asked about his future, Arteta, who is still pursuing only the second trophy of his tenure, remarked: “There’s no news on that.

“We have no time to discuss that now. The complete focus is on what we need to accomplish from now until the end of the season.

“I am fully committed and genuinely happy, and I feel good. My family is well, and I still have a great deal of ambition to achieve with this football club, and for now, we are in a positive position.

“This role is about the present and what you accomplish each day. Give your utmost and feel that you are the individual who can lead and motivate the group to attain great things for the club.

“And I feel that way, and I hope to maintain that feeling for the rest of the week, culminating in a successful outcome at the end of the season.”

Arteta’s squad is preparing for another crucial weekend in their pursuit of a first title in 22 years.

A win against Bournemouth at the Emirates would significantly increase the pressure on Manchester City, who will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The significance of Saturday’s match was not overlooked by Arteta.

“Clearly, the closer we get, the relevance and significance of the match grows, and tomorrow is a significant day for us,” Arteta added.

“The players are aware of it, and our supporters are aware of it. It’s an early kick-off, so rise early, have breakfast, pack your lunch, bring your dinner, and let’s all come together for it because it has to be a significant day.”

Arteta has received a boost with the return of Eberechi Eze, who has been out for a month due to a calf issue.

It was expected that the England international — who netted four goals in seven appearances prior to his injury — would be sidelined for a longer period.

With uncertainties surrounding the form and fitness of captain Martin Odegaard, Eze could potentially start against the Cherries.

Arteta remarked: “My initial conversation with him [Eze] after he felt that niggle was that he wanted to be available the following week.

“We understood that was not feasible, but the recovery and determination he has shown from day one to return as quickly as possible, and how he has motivated the medical staff and himself to be ready for tomorrow, was impressive to witness.

“I was unaware of how determined, obsessed, and willing he was to push his body. It surprised me in a very impactful way just how much he cherishes the game.”
