Manchester United asserts that a 5% rise in ticket prices around Old Trafford for the upcoming season will assist in their aim to “return to the pinnacle of domestic and European football.”

The Red Devils currently occupy third place in the Premier League under interim head coach Michael Carrick and are in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League following a rare season devoid of European competition.

United aims to advance and celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2028 with their first league title since 2013, and the club states that the increased ticket prices for the 2026/27 season will facilitate investment in football and facilities.

They also intend to move several hundred fans to create additional hospitality seating.

“We have a clear goal to restore Manchester United to the forefront of domestic and European football,” the club stated in a release.

“We aim to continue investing in the team and enhancing our facilities to provide fans with the best possible experience. We also need to ensure the club remains financially viable, considering inflation and rising expenses.

“It is in this context that we have decided to raise season ticket prices by approximately five percent across all sections of Old Trafford.”

The Football Supporters’ Association urged clubs in November to freeze ticket prices for the next two seasons. United indicates that the increase amounts to just over £2 per match for adult season tickets and £1 per match for those under 16.

The Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) highlighted the FSA’s initiative as they expressed dissatisfaction with the price increase and the relocation of an additional 600 fans for hospitality seating in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand.

“It is disappointing that the club has disregarded our request, as part of the FSA’s league-wide initiative, for a ticket price freeze,” MUST stated in a release.

“Supporters are increasingly paying more to watch their team, and as the FSA campaign indicated: enough is enough.

“We have also learned that 600 more loyal fans are being displaced for even more hospitality.

“Those individuals will understandably be upset and deserve better treatment from the club than those who experienced similar issues last year.

“That said, we are pleased that the club has addressed some of our concerns, including no further restrictions on season ticket holders forwarding their tickets and no increase in the minimum usage requirements.

“Football clubs make better decisions when they listen to fans — they should do it more!”

United has confirmed they will reinstate the publication of ticket allocation and ballot data, as well as ticket collections for European away matches whenever they resume continental competition.
