Continuing a growing club tradition, Manchester City has once again unveiled a special-edition jersey to commemorate the Lunar New Year.
The newest version, celebrating the upcoming Year of the Fire Horse, which commences on Feb. 17 this year, features perhaps the most striking design to date.
The prematch shirt showcases hand-drawn horse designs rendered in a traditional Chinese ink and watercolor technique. The outcome is a dense, almost camouflage-like pattern composed of various equine shapes.

According to manufacturers Puma, the Fire Horse artwork represents strength, motion, and unwavering determination—three vital traits that City will need to exhibit if they aim to overtake leaders Arsenal at the top of the Premier League this season. When in doubt, simply harness more horsepower.
The badges and logos are presented in beige with metallic gold accents, adding an extra touch of luxury, appropriate for a lunar year that occurs only once every 60 years.
The broader “Horse Capsule” collection from Manchester City also features an anthem jacket with a more understated design, a t-shirt showcasing a galloping blue horse, and a baseball cap.
City introduced their inaugural Lunar New Year kit in 2023—the Year of the Rabbit—with a special shirt inspired by the moon’s surface. This was fitting, as the song “Blue Moon” serves as a club anthem.
The Year of the Dragon kit followed in 2024, featuring a light grey design adorned with hand-drawn wood carvings of the mythical creature encircling the wearer’s torso.
Anticipation builds for what City will create for the next lunisolar calendar year—the Year of the Goat, which starts on Feb. 6, 2027. However, they are not the only club to unveil a Lunar New Year kit in 2026.

Tottenham has also launched a special edition kit to honor the year of the horse. The warm-up shirt features a deep blue and gold color scheme, along with a zodiac design crafted by Chinese artist Luna (a particularly fitting name) based in Shanghai.
The intricate line drawing draws inspiration from a horse’s mane and aims to symbolize freedom, vitality, and resolve. Unfortunately, those qualities were lacking when Spurs donned the warm-up top prior to last week’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle United, which resulted in the dismissal of manager Thomas Frank.
Additionally, there are four concealed references to Tottenham, including a monogram of the club initials, the N17 London postcode they represent, and a QR code that fans can scan to access a related video.
Paris Saint-Germain

PSG has partnered with Chinese streetwear brand Team Wang to produce a pair of special shirts to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The prematch shirt is white with a red graphic inspired by traditional watercolor painting, while the home shirt features PSG’s signature colors overlaid with Chinese calligraphy.
Both jerseys are set to be worn by the first team during their match against Metz at the Parc des Princes on Feb. 21.

Sheffield United has also designed a limited edition prematch shirt to honor the Year of the Horse. The white and gold design features equine shapes alongside splashes of pink blossoms in a watercolor style.
This is not the first occasion that the Championship club has released a Lunar New Year kit, as in 2025, the Blades celebrated the Year of the Snake by introducing a range of distinctive red and black pre-match attire.
