Chelsea’s head coach Liam Rosenior delivered a harsh criticism of his players as their season continued to deteriorate following a 3-0 loss to Brighton on Tuesday.

This outcome positions Chelsea seventh in the Premier League, trailing fifth-place Liverpool by seven points while having played one additional match.

The top five teams secure spots in the Champions League, but with only four rounds remaining in the season, Chelsea risks falling further behind.

The team has now suffered five consecutive league defeats without scoring, marking the first time since 1912 that this has occurred.

During the second half of a lackluster performance, Rosenior faced explicit chants from frustrated fans as his team failed to register a single shot on target.

When asked if this was the worst performance of his tenure, the former Strasbourg manager responded to Sky Sports: “By far. It was unacceptable in every aspect of the game, unacceptable in our attitude.”

“I keep coming out and defending the players. That performance tonight is indefensible.”

“The way we conceded goals, the number of duels we lost, the lack of intensity in the team. A drastic change is needed immediately.”

“The professionalism was absent. It was an extremely challenging night. The most difficult night not only here but in my career at this remarkable football club.”

“Some of the things I witnessed today, I never want to see again.”

Goals from Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinshelwood, and Danny Welbeck at the AMEX Stadium highlighted Brighton’s superiority on the night. This victory allowed them to surpass Chelsea in the standings and enhanced their own chances of European competition next season.

This marks Chelsea’s seventh defeat in their last eight matches across all competitions. The team, which was crowned Club World Cup champion less than a year ago, has managed to win only one of its last nine encounters.

While they have an FA Cup semifinal against Leeds on Sunday, their season has unraveled in recent weeks, including being eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

“We need to reflect; I need to reflect,” Rosenior stated, noting that he was missing attacking players Cole Palmer, EstΓͺvΓ£o, and JoΓ£o Pedro due to injuries.

“However, I cannot continue to come out here and defend some of the things we are witnessing.”

“The overall attitude, spirit, and determination were lacking, except for maybe three or four of the starting eleven.”

“That is far from sufficient for this club. I cannot come out and lie. I will speak the truth. That was an unacceptable performance in every aspect.”

Chelsea, a team that cost over $1 billion to assemble, now faces the possibility of missing out on the lucrative Champions League.

The decision to part ways with Club World Cup-winning coach Enzo Marcesca in January now appears to be a costly one, with his successor Rosenior overseeing the team’s decline.
