Kasper Schmeichel expresses concern that his career may be at risk because of a shoulder injury.

Kasper Schmeichel has acknowledged that his career may be nearing its end due to a significant shoulder injury.
The Celtic goalkeeper has been enduring discomfort since injuring his left shoulder while playing for Denmark last year, with the issue worsening during a match against Stuttgart last month.
He has missed the last five games for Martin O’Neill’s team and received a “devastating” diagnosis following a consultation with a specialist on Monday.
In an interview with CBS Sports Golazo Network, Schmeichel stated: “I’m going to require two surgeries now to repair my shoulder.”
“It’s a bit of a setback. I’ve torn the bicep, damaged the rotator cuff, dislocated the shoulder, and torn the labrum — everything’s essentially gone. It appears to be 10-12 months of rehabilitation.”
“You don’t really know how to respond to this. I could have possibly played my final football match. I’ve been a footballer since I was born. That thought is devastating. It’s very challenging to comprehend at this moment.”

The 39-year-old has followed in the footsteps of his father Peter, who played a crucial role during Manchester United’s successful years, and his career has spanned over two decades.
Schmeichel was part of the Leicester team that clinched the Premier League title in 2016 and the FA Cup five years later, later moving to Nice and Anderlecht before joining Celtic in the summer of 2024.
He is scheduled to undergo surgery for the first time on Friday and has pledged to fight for his career throughout what will be a prolonged rehabilitation process.
“My mindset is, ‘OK, I’m going to give it everything I can to see if I can return’,” he remarked.
“It would likely be one of the greatest achievements of my career if I could recover from an injury like this. I’m going to fight, I’m going to try everything I can.”
