As Europe’s Top 5 Leagues continued their regular season, England experienced an FA Cup weekend marked by surprises and officiating disputes. Mansfield Town shocked Burnley, while Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool advanced comfortably, and Newcastle United triumphed over Aston Villa in a spirited match.

Real Madrid climbed above Barcelona to seize the top spot in LaLiga after a 4-1 victory against Real Sociedad, although the Catalans have a match in hand. Atlético Madrid displayed contrasting form, following their 4-0 victory over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey with a disappointing 0-3 loss to Rayo Vallecano. In Italy, Juventus faced contentious calls in their 2-3 defeat to Serie A leaders Inter Milan, leaving them 15 points adrift of the top, while AC Milan secured second place with a win, and Napoli and AS Roma ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund both achieved significant victories, with Bayern maintaining a six-point advantage at the top of the Bundesliga. Paris Saint-Germain experienced an unexpected loss to Stade Rennais, allowing Lens to ascend to the top of the Ligue 1 standings following a 5-0 triumph over Paris FC.

ESPN’s By The Numbers presents key statistics from the weekend’s football matches:
