Bayern Munich reversed the outcome against longtime adversary Real Madrid in a thrilling matchup between the two European powerhouses, with the German side emerging victorious.

Luis Díaz and Michael Olise netted late goals for the Bavarian club, securing a 4-3 win over Madrid and a place in the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday.

“What a special night,” Harry Kane remarked following the match. “It was a crazy game, to be honest, and given that it was a quarter-final, a significant match, experiencing the ups and downs throughout the first half, in particular, was quite remarkable.”

This win extended Bayern’s unbeaten streak to 16 matches across all competitions and confirmed a 6-4 aggregate victory, marking their first triumph over Madrid in a two-legged contest since 2012.

The second leg of the quarterfinal concluded with tension, as Madrid’s players were incensed when referee Slavko Vinčić issued a second yellow card to substitute Eduardo Camavinga in the 86th minute for a minor foul on Kane.

Díaz struck inside the right post three minutes later, and Olise sealed the match with a stunning goal in stoppage time, resulting in a 6-4 aggregate win after Bayern had taken the first leg of their quarterfinal 2-1 in Madrid the previous week.

Bayern will face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals.

“One of the best in Europe for sure, reigning European champions for a reason,” Kane stated regarding PSG.

“We obviously had a challenging match against them earlier in the Champions League stages. So, we anticipate an open game, a lot of man-for-man pressure, and significant individual quality. Hopefully, we can come out on top.”

Bayern, which set a new Bundesliga goals record last weekend, can secure yet another German league title on Sunday – the 13th in 14 years – if Borussia Dortmund fails to gain points the day prior.

Bayern also faces Bayer Leverkusen in the semifinals of the German Cup on April 22 as it aims to replicate the treble achieved in 2013.
