Kane and Yamal top ESPN’s February Players of the Month list.

The ESPN Player of the Month accolade, now in its fourth iteration, honors the most exceptional players from the leading five European leagues. This format has previously recognized talents in October, November, December, and January, and now it celebrates the stars of February.

In LaLiga, there is no contest. Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal was unmatched, as he was selected as the top player by all voters for the second month in a row, solidifying his position as the finest talent in Spain.

Harry Kane of Bayern Munich also excelled, netting eight goals in just four Bundesliga matches.

In Serie A, an unexpected contender outperformed the established forwards and was unanimously recognized as the league’s best player for the first time.

Additionally, ESPN also highlighted the standout players from Ligue 1 and the Premier League, respectively.

How does it work?

The process is straightforward: Three ESPN journalists from various countries cast their votes for the top-performing players in each league. Each month, each expert selects their top three players from that league. The player in third place receives three points, the second place earns five, and the first place gets 10. Thus, the highest a player can achieve is 30 points if all three experts name them the best player of the month in that league.

In the event of a tie, the determining factor for the best player is the number of first-place votes received.

LIGUE 1: BRADLEY BARCOLA

Forward | Paris Saint-Germain and France | 23 years old | 18 points

The winger played a crucial role in PSG’s success, helping them secure four victories out of five Ligue 1 matches in February.

He scored during the 3-0 triumph over Metz and netted the decisive goal in the 1-0 win against Le Havre, significant results that positioned the Parisians at the top of the standings with 57 points, four ahead of second-placed Lens.

Thanks to Kane’s contributions, Bayern secured victories in all their matches that month against Hoffenheim (5-1), Werder Bremen (3-0), Eintracht Frankfurt (3-2), and Borussia Dortmund (3-2).

The Bavarian team leads the league with 63 points, 11 ahead of Dortmund. If the Englishman can maintain his form in March, discussions about their title aspirations could intensify.

Dimarco featured in all these victories and proved to be a pivotal player. He even scored in the latest win against Genoa, making him the only player topping this ranking who does not occupy an attacking role, yet his selection was unanimous.

The winger began the month with a goal in the 3-0 win over Mallorca, although he did not find the net in the 2-1 loss to Girona and the 3-0 victory against Levante. His crowning moment arrived on the final day: Saturday the 28th, when he scored his first professional hat trick against Villarreal.

In the opening match of the month, his dramatic stoppage-time goal clinched a 3-2 victory over Fulham. He then scored again against Tottenham Hotspur — this time as a substitute — and against West Ham United, where he entered the match and netted a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw.

The striker continued his impressive form in the final match of February, scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over Everton, which earned him the title of ESPN’s Player of the Month.
