Former England and Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has signed with Corinthians for the remainder of the season, as announced by the Brazilian club.

Lingard, 33, had been without a club since departing Korean team FC Seoul after his contract concluded at the end of the previous year.

Despite reported interest from MLS, Lingard will continue his career in Sao Paulo, having signed a contract with Corinthians that extends until December. He will don the No. 77 jersey.

“It’s a magical feeling. I can envision the atmosphere with the fans being incredible,” Lingard stated following his arrival at the club.

“Initially, I encountered the fans at the airport chanting ‘Go, Corinthians! Go, Corinthians!’ The passion from the supporters is remarkable to witness. The facilities are outstanding.

“The players have welcomed me warmly, and the coach and CEO have treated me very well. My first impressions: I’m very pleased, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Lingard joined FC Seoul in February 2024 after being without a club for seven months, following his release from Nottingham Forest the year prior.

Having progressed through the club’s youth academy, Lingard made 232 appearances for Manchester United, securing the FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League titles.

He was also an integral part of the England team that reached the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup, earning 32 caps for his nation.

At Corinthians, Lingard will reunite with former Manchester United teammate Memphis Depay.

Corinthians, under the management of former Brazil coach Dorival Júnior, have accumulated seven points from their first four league matches.

Lingard becomes the second British-born player to represent the club, following Colin Kazim-Richards, who later played internationally for Turkiye.
