Former England defender and five-time Premier League winner with Chelsea, John Terry, has recently auctioned over fifty items from his personal collection through the American auction house Goldin Auctions.

The total sales exceeded $695,000, including the buyer’s premium.

Among the items Terry offered to the New Jersey-based auction house were a match-worn and photo-matched Lionel Messi Barcelona jersey and a match-worn, photo-matched, and signed Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United jersey.

The Messi jersey was from Chelsea’s Champions League group stage match against Barça on October 18, 2006, while the Ronaldo jersey was from the Premier League match on April 26, 2008, against United. The Messi jersey fetched $183,000, while the Ronaldo jersey sold for $115,900, setting a record for a Ronaldo jersey.

Also included were match-worn signed jerseys from Thierry Henry of Arsenal and Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus. Henry’s jersey was from the October 18, 2003 match against Chelsea during the “Invincibles Season,” where he scored in the 75th minute, and Buffon’s gold jersey was from the second leg of the Chelsea and Juventus UCL Round of 16 clash on March 10, 2009. The Henry jersey sold for $98,820, while the Buffon jersey garnered $22,265, marking the highest prices for jerseys from both players.

A collection of Terry’s own jerseys from England, Chelsea, and Aston Villa was also auctioned, along with match-worn jerseys (some signed) from players such as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Paolo Maldini, Cesc Fabregas, Paulo Ferreira, Ashley Cole, Gianfranco Zola, Samuel Eto’o, Leonardo Bonucci, Rio Ferdinand, Claude Makelele, and Marcel Desailly.

Terry also included several trophies in the auction, with the most valuable being his 2007 replica player-issued FA Cup champions trophy, which sold for $26,840. Additionally, a set of Terry’s captain’s armbands from his tenure with England, Chelsea, and Aston Villa was sold, along with multiple pairs of match-worn cleats and two pairs of match-worn shin guards.

A portion of the auction’s proceeds will benefit the John Terry Foundation, which supports disadvantaged youth in the United Kingdom.
