Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has received an FA charge following his red card against Bournemouth.

Maguire faces a charge of “improper conduct” concerning alleged actions towards fourth official Matt Donohue.

The England centre-back was sent off by referee Stuart Attwell in the second half for a challenge that allowed Junior Kroupi to equalise from the penalty spot, resulting in Bournemouth securing a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium.

An FA statement released on Wednesday stated: “Harry Maguire has been charged after being dismissed in the 78th minute of Manchester United’s Premier League match against Bournemouth on March 20.”

“It is alleged that the defender engaged in improper conduct and/or used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards the fourth official following his dismissal. Harry Maguire has until April 2 to respond.”

Matthijs de Ligt, who has been out with a back injury since November, remains unavailable.
