Finalissima venue uncertain: Spain to face Argentina in Buenos Aires or Bernabéu?

Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentina Football Association (AFA), has expressed a desire for the Finalissima between Spain and Argentina to be hosted in Buenos Aires if the match is relocated from Qatar.
The clash between the European champions and the Copa América victors is scheduled for March 27 at Lusail Stadium in Doha.
UEFA, CONMEBOL, and the local organizing committee are closely observing the developments in the Middle East, but alternative locations are being evaluated after the Qatar Football Association postponed all tournaments and matches in response to the recent strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran.
“We are going to get to work because Spain wants the Finalissima to be played in Spain, and I want it to be played at the Monumental stadium,” Tapia stated on Thursday before his meeting with CONMEBOL president Alejandro Domínguez in Buenos Aires.
Earlier this week, Spanish Football Federation president Rafael Louzán indicated that the match would likely be shifted to Europe, given that most players from both the Spain and Argentina national teams are based there.

The Spanish FA proposed Real Madrid’s Bernabéu stadium as a potential venue, which has been declined by Tapia and the AFA.
The Monumental stadium serves as the home ground for River Plate and the Argentina national team.
