Evaluating Puma’s away kits for the 2026 World Cup: Portugal, Senegal, Morocco, and others

Puma has closely followed its competitor Adidas by unveiling away jerseys for potentially 11 national teams that will don its brand at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer.
The kits were introduced at a pop-up event in the heart of New York City, featuring former players Ricardo Quaresma, Asamoah Gyan, and El Hadji Diouf who attended an impromptu gathering in Brooklyn’s Domino Square.
The official away kits for Portugal, Morocco, Ghana, Paraguay, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Czechia, Switzerland, New Zealand, Austria, and Egypt were showcased as attendees enjoyed a vibrant four-on-four tournament among local players, accompanied by food and music amidst the excitement.

Austria (Qualified)
Puma
A soft, mint-green marble design is adorned with delicate gold arch pin striping, evoking a luxurious art deco aesthetic, likely inspired by the opulent decor of European country estates. Quite elegant.
Rating: 6.5/10
Egypt (Q)
Puma
Drawing inspiration from the ancient pyramids, Egypt’s away jersey features a simple white base subtly enhanced by a light, muted graphic composed of geometric shapes and pointed triangular forms. The seven stars arching above the EFA crest signify the number of times the Pharaohs have won the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana (Q)
Puma
Ghana’s World Cup away kit is considerably more subdued than the home version, which features an overwhelming spider web graphic. The yellow-gold base is complemented by a pleasing textile pattern reminiscent of traditional kente cloth. The design draws inspiration from the vibrant atmosphere of the renowned Makola Market in Accra, which has been a central part of the city for over a century.

Ivory Coast (Q)
Puma
As is typically the case, the Elephants have paired their orange home jersey with a white away version, though this latest design deviates from a standard color swap. The shirt is adorned with patterns and illustrations in subtle green and orange tones that seem to be inspired by various aspects of national flora and fauna, including elephant trunks, baobab flowers, and palm trees.
Rating: 7/10
Morocco (Q)
Morocco’s new away jersey is white with a light sand-colored design forming a bib on the front. The intricate line drawing is influenced by the elaborate patterns found in traditional Moroccan tiles, rugs, and textiles, though it may not be striking enough to leave a lasting impression.

New Zealand (Q)
Puma
Similar to their white home kit, the All Whites’ inverted black away kit incorporates indigenous Māori symbolism, integrated into the fabric through a tribal fern leaf pattern. It may be easily confused with the rugby team’s attire, but it remains a well-designed shirt nonetheless.
Rating: 7/10
Paraguay (Q)
A blend of blacks and blues creates a shadowy camouflage pattern. The tonal white logos add a modern touch, but similar to Paraguay’s new striped home kit, they lack any significant visual impact. Unremarkable and forgettable.
Rating: 6/10
Portugal (Q)
Like the home kit, Portugal’s 2026 away jersey features a clear nautical theme. The shirt is white with a dynamic crashing wave graphic overlay. The turbulent design is divided into two different shades of greenish-blue using a deep V-shaped panel, which sits somewhat awkwardly across the midsection. There is a lot happening visually, resulting in a somewhat chaotic appearance, but credit is due for attempting a unique approach.
Rating: 6.5/10
Senegal (Q)
Puma
The Lions of Teranga’s away kit conceptually reflects the Senegalese national colors of green, gold, and red, featuring a vertical panel down the front adorned with a tribal-style pattern. It is acceptable but not particularly remarkable.
Rating: 6/10
Switzerland (Q)
Puma
Following recent kits inspired by Alpine railway stations and the new high-tech Swiss passports, Puma has produced a less favorable design this time, presenting Switzerland with a strikingly bright green away kit. The chaotic leaf print graphic unfortunately induces a sense of discomfort rather than anything positive. Quite unattractive.
Rating: 4/10
Czechia (Playoffs)
Puma
An off-white base is entirely covered with an overwhelming pattern inspired by Bohemian cut crystal. The polished gold trim adds a touch of elegance, but the overly intricate design may be considered too busy. A bit more subtlety could have been beneficial.
