Cristiano Ronaldo experienced stomach discomfort during Al Nassr’s 1-0 league win against Al Ettifaq on Wednesday evening.

The captain of Portugal, substituted in injury time, felt unwell enough to vomit in the locker room.

“I was considering not playing him; he wasn’t in optimal condition,” Jorge Jesus remarked about Ronaldo following the match.

“He was dealing with stomach issues and a general sense of fatigue, and when I took him off, he went directly to the dressing room and was sick.”

Ronaldo, 41, did not find the net but played a role in Al Nassr’s goal. His long-range shot shortly after the half-hour mark was saved by Al Ettifaq goalkeeper Marek RodΓ‘k, but Kingsley Coman capitalized on the rebound to score the match’s sole goal.

Ronaldo also struck the post and had another attempt cleared off the line. The victory on Wednesday marked a club record-extending 15th win in the Saudi Pro League, keeping Al Nassr firmly in the race for their first league title since the 2018-19 season.

Al Nassr holds an eight-point advantage over their closest competitors, Al Hilal, who have a match in hand.

“+3. Great energy from the stand,” Ronaldo posted on social media after the match.

Ronaldo has netted 24 league goals and ranks third in the Saudi Pro League scoring chart, three behind English striker Ivan Toney of Al Ahli.

The Portuguese star has been the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League for the past two seasons.
