Chelsea's Rosenior assured of support from ownership 1

Liam Rosenior is confident that he continues to have the complete backing of Chelsea’s ownership as he strives to revive the club’s faltering Champions League qualification efforts.

The Blues find themselves seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool in the Premier League after suffering four consecutive defeats without finding the net.

Boos were heard at the final whistle following Saturday evening’s 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge to Manchester United, after some fans organized a street protest against the owners, BlueCo, prior to the match.

Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali stated last week that the club remains supportive of Rosenior and is optimistic about achieving long-term success under his leadership.

When asked if he sensed that support, Blues head coach Rosenior, who took over from Enzo Maresca in January, responded: “One hundred percent.”

“They have been encouraging in our daily discussions, and their support for me and the team has been outstanding.”

“We are in agreement that we need to secure victories in the present, but that does not contradict our goal of providing consistent success for this club in the long run.”

Chelsea will aim to end their troubling run at ninth-placed Brighton on Tuesday.

With only three points separating the Blues from Fulham in 12th place, Rosenior’s team risks missing out on European competition entirely.

“We have made it quite challenging for ourselves,” he acknowledged regarding their Champions League ambitions. “We must be honest and realistic about that.”

“However, we cannot afford to give up. We need to keep fighting. We must ensure we approach the match against Brighton with the same qualities I observed against Manchester United in terms of our energy, intensity, and engagement in the game, which were commendable.”

“Yet, we failed to maintain a clean sheet and did not capitalize on our opportunities, so we need to be more clinical and ruthless in both penalty areas.”
