Chelsea winger Pedro Neto was charged by UEFA on Thursday for pushing a ball boy during the Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.

Neto is facing a one-match suspension for what UEFA described as “unsporting behavior,” with a disciplinary ruling to be announced “in due course.”

Chelsea is currently behind the defending champions 5-2 after the first leg on Wednesday in the round of 16. The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday in London.

Neto pushed the boy in the chest for seemingly holding onto the ball instead of returning it to the player late in the match when Chelsea was down 4-2.

Neto subsequently apologized to the boy and presented him with his game jersey.

“In the heat of the moment, as we were losing, I wanted to retrieve the ball,” Neto explained to British broadcaster TNT Sports. “I gave him a slight push. I realized that I hurt him and I regret it, as that is not my character.”
