Chelsea has revealed that the Artificial Intelligence company IFS will serve as the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor for the remainder of the season.

The west London team has been without a permanent shirt sponsor since their profitable contract with mobile provider Three concluded in 2023.

The partnership with IFS will result in their logo appearing on the front of both the men’s and women’s teams’ kits immediately, meaning Liam Rosenior’s squad will don the new shirts for their Premier League fixture against Burnley on Saturday, while Sonia Bompastor’s team will wear them in their Women’s FA Cup match against Manchester United on Sunday.

Chelsea characterized the partnership as a “multi-year global collaboration,” but did not specify whether IFS would remain the primary kit sponsor beyond the current season. The club also did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.

According to a Chelsea statement, IFS is recognized as the leading provider of industrial AI software globally, claiming to deliver industry-specific, contextual intelligence relied upon by top organizations worldwide.

The AI firm’s agreement follows 2½ years after the expiration of the Three contract. Sports data technology firm Infinite Athlete became Chelsea’s front-of-shirt sponsor under a short-term deal starting in September 2023. Last season, Chelsea lacked a main shirt sponsor until the final weeks of the campaign when Emirati property development company DAMAC briefly appeared on their shirts.

“We are extremely proud to partner with IFS and utilize their cutting-edge AI software to help elevate the club to even greater heights,” stated Chelsea president Jason Gannon. “This partnership signifies our commitment to remain at the forefront of this sector, harnessing the potential of advanced technology and unlocking the capabilities of AI to enhance all aspects of our operations on and off the pitch.”
