Defending champions Chelsea will encounter either London City Lionesses or Tottenham Hotspur, while Manchester City is set to face former champions Birmingham City in the FA Cup quarterfinals.
Six-time champions Chelsea secured their spot in the quarterfinals by overcoming 2024 champions Manchester United 2-1 after extra time on Sunday. They will meet a Women’s Super League opponent in either London City Lionesses or Tottenham Hotspur, who are scheduled to compete against each other on Monday night.
City will take on WSL 2 team Birmingham City, who lifted the cup in 2012. Birmingham was relegated from the WSL in 2022 and is currently pursuing promotion, as the league is set to expand to 14 teams with the top two WSL 2 teams moving up at the end of the season. They are presently in second place.
This matchup will provide the second-tier team an opportunity to gauge their standing against this year’s likely champions, who are currently eight points ahead at the top of the table.
In other matchups, former champions Arsenal will head to Brighton, who triumphed over West Ham in the fifth round.
Arsenal advanced comfortably past Bristol City with a 3-0 victory. Promotion-chasing Charlton Athletic, who remain unbeaten in WSL 2 and lead the table nine points ahead of Birmingham City, will face Liverpool, who are struggling near the bottom of the WSL standings.
Liverpool currently sits in 11th place, just one point above relegation-threatened Leicester City. The 12th place WSL team will compete against the third-placed WSL 2 team for the final position in the WSL for the upcoming season, making the clash between Liverpool and Charlton particularly intriguing.
The quarterfinals are set to take place on April 4-5, with the final scheduled for Wembley on May 30.
