Celta Vigo’s request fulfilled: Madonna possesses the club’s missing jersey
Madonna has responded to LaLiga’s Celta Vigo, which was in search of a long-missing shirt worn by the pop star over thirty years ago.
The pop icon addressed a request for information about the shirt from Celta Vigo with a post on X on Saturday, indicating that she still has the item in her possession.
“This shirt is hanging in my archives! I am wearing and representing your team in spirit!” Madonna stated.
This week, Celta had released an open letter to Madonna inquiring whether she still had the baby-blue-and-white Celta shirt she donned during a concert at its Balaidos stadium in 1990.
Club president Marián Mouriño Terrazo expressed: “Over time we have come to better understand what you represented back then: challenging established norms and standing up to those who attempt to dictate what you can or cannot do. At our club, we identify with this mindset. That is why we remain hopeful about locating the garment you once wore.
“Do you have it? If you know its whereabouts, or if you would like to assist us in the effort to recover it, please reach out to us via private message.”
Madonna’s social media response was in reaction to a video shared by the club featuring a musical performance of her 1989 hit “Like a Prayer,” which was sung on the field of Balaidos Stadium by a choir of female vocalists accompanied by a string orchestra prior to Friday’s match against Real Madrid.
