Burnley, Chelsea denounce racist harassment directed at Hannibal Mejbri, Wesley Fofana.

Burnley and Chelsea have denounced the online racist harassment aimed at their players, Hannibal Mejbri and Wesley Fofana, in the aftermath of Saturday’s 1-1 draw between the clubs.
Fofana received a red card for two yellow cards, the initial one being for a foul on Mejbri.
Midfielder Mejbri posted a screenshot of the racist messages he had encountered, stating on Instagram: “It’s 2026 and there are still people like that … Educate yourself and your children please.”
Burnley expressed their “disgust” regarding the abuse and confirmed that they had reported the matter to Meta, the parent company of Instagram, as well as to the Premier League and law enforcement.
“Everyone at Burnley FC is appalled by the online racist abuse directed at Hannibal following today’s Premier League match,” the club stated.
“There is no room for this in our society, and we condemn it without reservation.”
