Bernardo Silva has confirmed his intention to depart from Manchester City this summer.

The Portuguese midfielder’s contract will expire in June, and he has decided to move on after spending nine years at the Etihad Stadium.

Silva has not disclosed his next destination and has been associated with a potential return to his childhood club Benfica, along with interests from Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Major League Soccer.

The 31-year-old shared his announcement regarding his exit from City in an Instagram message on Thursday.

He stated: “Cityzens, when I arrived nine years ago, I was pursuing a dream of a little boy, aiming to succeed in life and achieve remarkable things.

“This city and this club provided me with much more than I ever anticipated. What we accomplished together is a legacy that will always be treasured in my heart.

“In a few months, it will be time to bid farewell to the city where we not only achieved so much as a football club but also where I began my marriage and family.

“To the fans, your unwavering support over the years is something I will always remember. I came as a Man City player, and I depart as one of you, a lifelong Man City supporter.

“To the club, Pep, the staff, and all my teammates over these nine years, thank you for all the memories and for allowing me to be part of this journey for such a long time.

“Let’s make the most of these final weeks together and strive for what this season still holds for us.”
