Bayern’s appeal against Luis Díaz’s red card rejected despite referee acknowledgment.

Bayern Munich has failed in its appeal regarding Luis Díaz’s one-match suspension following a red card in the Bundesliga, despite the referee acknowledging that his decision was incorrect.
Díaz received a red card after being shown a second yellow for diving during Bayern’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, where he also netted Bayern’s sole goal.
As it was a yellow card offense, it did not undergo video review. In a post-match interview with Sky Sport Germany, Christian Dingert stated that he had overlooked the contact between Díaz and goalkeeper Janis Blaswich, adding: “The second yellow card is very severe, and upon reviewing the footage now, I would not issue it in that manner.”
Nevertheless, this was insufficient for the sports court of the German football association to reverse the automatic one-match suspension for the sending-off.
Court chairman Stephan Oberholz determined on Monday that Dingert’s remarks were not pertinent and that the decision was not “completely incorrect,” as Díaz had been attempting to make contact with the opposing goalkeeper.
“The key point is that the incident represents a factual decision that can only be amended if it is gravely, clearly, and without any doubt objectively erroneous. That is not applicable in this situation,” he stated.
Díaz is set to serve the suspension against Union Berlin on Saturday. Bayern retains the option to appeal the decision.
