Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen barred from voting in election due to administrative mistake – source

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen was unable to participate in the presidential election on Sunday due to not updating his club membership, a source informed ESPN.
Ter Stegen, 33, was among the many individuals who arrived at Spotify Camp Nou to cast their votes for either Joan Laporta or Victor Font as the next president of the Catalan club.
However, he experienced an awkward moment when, after a five-minute wait, it was revealed that his name was absent from the electoral register, preventing him from voting.
All players automatically become members, referred to as socios, upon joining Barça, but it is their responsibility to keep their membership current.
A source confirmed that Ter Stegen’s membership has not been updated, resulting in his name not appearing on the register.
The German goalkeeper is currently on loan at Girona, although he is currently out due to an injury.
Barça members are casting their votes between the incumbent president Laporta and challenger Font, who placed second to Laporta five years prior, with voting concluding at 9pm local time on Sunday and the results announced shortly thereafter.

In addition to Spotify Camp Nou, members have the option to vote at polling locations in Tarragona, Girona, Lleida, and Andorra.
A total of 114,504 members are registered to vote, with numerous current and former players taking advantage of their voting rights on Sunday.
Barça Femení players Aitana Bonmatí and Laia Aleixandri both participated in the voting, along with defender Héctor Fort, who is currently on loan at Elche, and former players Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernández, Guillermo Amor, and Carles Rexach.
