Arteta states Havertz’s comeback elevates Arsenal to ‘a different level’

Mikel Arteta has expressed confidence in Kai Havertz’s ability to elevate Arsenal to “another level” following his performance in the 3-2 Champions League victory over Kairat at the Emirates Stadium, where he scored and provided two assists.
Havertz, making his first start in 357 days after undergoing hamstring and knee surgeries, assisted Viktor Gyokeres’ goal just two minutes into the match.
Jorginho equalized for Kairat from the penalty spot shortly thereafter, but Havertz responded by scoring his first goal in nearly a year, regaining the lead for Arsenal.
Gabriel Martinelli added a third goal from a cross by Havertz with nine minutes remaining in the first half. Ricardinho scored a late consolation goal for the Kazakhstan side during stoppage time, as Arsenal completed a perfect record of eight wins from eight in the group stage.
Havertz was substituted at half-time as Arsenal continues to manage the Germany international’s return to full fitness. Arteta commented on his first-half performance: “It is going to give him a lot of confidence, joy, and energy, and to the team, too.”
“The team understands how crucial Kai is for us and how he can enhance the team’s performance and elevate it to another level.”
“Therefore, the fact that he was able to achieve that today after such a long absence was very impressive.”
“The quality he demonstrated, the way he connected with the team, and the goal he scored along with the assists he provided in the first half made for a very positive performance.”
“So, let’s integrate him effectively and ensure we utilize him properly, as he will be vital for us in the latter part of the season.”
When asked about the decision to substitute Havertz, 26, at half-time, Arteta stated: “He is fine. That was our plan, for him to play the first 45 minutes. And he definitely wanted to continue today.”
Arsenal’s win secured their position as group winners. Arteta’s team, which reached the semi-finals last season, will return for the last 16 in March, where they will face either Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen, Olympiacos, or Borussia Dortmund.
Arteta added: “I am very proud of the players and the run we have had in the first stage of the competition.”
“Winning eight consecutive games in the Champions League is quite challenging, as evidenced by what has happened with other teams.”
“We must recognize that, but that is behind us now, and the competition pauses. We will take time to reflect and then prepare for our next opponents, approaching it game by game.”
Arsenal will resume Premier League action with a trip to Elland Road to face Leeds on Saturday. The Gunners, despite their loss to Manchester United on Sunday, remain four points clear at the top of the table.
