Arteta states Arsenal ‘failed to demonstrate anything’ in draw against Wolves.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated that his squad has only themselves to hold accountable after relinquishing a two-goal advantage to finish 2-2 with last-placed Wolves at Molineux, asserting that all criticism directed at his team is justified following the collapse.
The Gunners are now just five points ahead of Manchester City, having played one additional match, and have secured only two victories in their last seven league encounters.
Arteta emphasized that his players must accept all criticism they receive and need to recover against Tottenham on Sunday.
“That’s credit obviously to Wolves; they shouldn’t be underestimated,” Arteta remarked regarding the Premier League’s bottom team. “It’s very fundamental aspects and straightforward elements that we executed poorly today, which is why we felt that even without conceding much, when the game is open, such situations can arise.”
“Any inquiries, criticisms, or opinions, you must take them on the chin today. That’s it. Any criticism is valid because we did not perform at the necessary level. The way to respond is on the pitch on Sunday in another significant opportunity we have.”
“We have always managed to do it, but if you are resilient, you need to demonstrate it next time. It’s easy to say it here, but we must prove it on the field.”
Bukayo Saka scored his fifth goal of the season to give Arsenal an early advantage, and they extended their lead 11 minutes into the second half with Piero Hincapie’s first goal for the club, placing the Gunners in a strong position.
Hugo Bueno’s remarkable strike reduced the deficit just after the hour mark, and they left it late to cast doubt on Arsenal’s Premier League title aspirations when Tom Edozie, coming off the bench, netted the equalizer on his debut.
Arteta remarked that his team was far from their best and must reflect on themselves for dropping points once more.
“Extremely disappointed, obviously, with the result and the manner in which the game concluded, but we must hold ourselves accountable,” Arteta stated. “The performance in the second half did not meet the standards required in this league to secure a win. It’s a moment of disappointment; we want to discuss how we feel, but this is not the time for that.”
“When you are at this level and at the top, you need to accept the consequences; today we deserved it. On Sunday, we have a significant match ahead.”
“It was one moment after another. Even after we scored the second goal, we never had control of the game; that’s the reality.”
Arsenal has held leads in each of the last three title races but has finished second each season, and Wednesday’s draw may have resurfaced unsettling memories that they could once again finish as runners-up after losing a lead.
Wolves manager Rob Edwards witnessed his team secure a second consecutive draw and expressed pride in the belief his players demonstrated to earn an unexpected point.
“It’s gratifying to achieve a late equalizer, especially when you’re 2-0 down against a team like that,” Edwards commented. “We are up against Arsenal; everyone needs to maintain some perspective. In the first 20-30 minutes, it was everything we anticipated the game to be.”
“We remained in the game, which was crucial. We exhibited belief and played with a bit more emotion. To display that character and quality is essential. It might be easier for the players to lose faith, but that was not the case.”
