Anthony Gordon of Newcastle sets UCL record with four goals in first half

Newcastle United striker Anthony Gordon has become only the second player to net four goals in the first half of a UEFA Champions League match, and the first to achieve this in the knockout phase.
The England international’s record-setting performance propelled the Magpies to a dominant 5-0 advantage at halftime against Azerbaijan’s FK Qarabag in the initial leg of their playoff round encounter.
Gordon’s hat trick, completed in just 33 minutes, is the quickest by an English player in the Champions League, bringing his overall tally in the tournament to 10 goals.
He is now the third Newcastle player to register a hat trick in the Champions League, and the first to accomplish this in the knockout stages.
