On Monday, Adidas revealed the launch of the “U.S. denim jersey,” a shirt inspired by the classic away uniforms worn by the United States men’s national team during the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
This jersey showcases a distinctive washed-denim appearance embellished with iconic ’90s stars, arriving just in time for the U.S. to co-host the World Cup for the second time this summer, alongside Mexico and Canada.
“With the U.S. Denim jersey, our goal was to encapsulate the unique and original essence of American soccer,” stated Inigo Turner, design director at Adidas football. “This design embraces that spirit with striking graphics, bold colors, and a conviction that the game here should resonate with the people.”

The complete U.S. denim collection from Adidas also features denim shorts with a star pattern, a denim track top with paneling, and a denim cap adorned with star accents.
In homage to the players who wore the iconic 1994 jerseys, promotional images include former USMNT stars like Cobi Jones and Alexi Lalas. The collection will be available for purchase from Adidas starting March 10.
Referring to the inspiration drawn from the 1994 World Cup, and in contrast to the denim away jersey, the red-and-white striped home kit from that tournament may have influenced Nike designers for the forthcoming home jerseys for this year’s World Cup.
